Colorado Map Data

These KMZ files were produced from what is currently (May 2019) in the OpenStreetMap database. I've discovered the data is often lacking, especially in remote areas, which is my interest. Since OpenStreetMap is a crowd sourced project, it's up to all of us to improve the data.

KMZ Files from OpenStreetMap

These following directories contain KMZ files produced from OpenStreetMap data. These files can be viewed in Google Maps or Google Earth, as well as most mobile mapping apps. I use my own software to produce the KMZ files as it gives me more control over the output. Note that some areas have less data coverage than others. These are the areas to focus on.

I'm currently (late Dec 2019) reorganzing the Fire District files. If you can't find something, check back in a few weeks.

Colorado Data Files

These directories contain data files produced from non OpenStreetMap sources. The data has been converted to OSM format, and split you the huge files into smaller more manageable ones. The polyfiles are also needed if you want to process the original ERSI shapefiles yourself. The road and trail data comes from the USDA's National Dataset site. The address data comes from the state of Colorado. The building footprints are from Bing. Other than a few areas of Colorado, much of this data has never been imported into OpenStreetMap. I've done the hard part of finding the data, validating the license, converting the data, and chopping it into managable pieces.
